If you want to support our work at Same Old City and get access to more, we’re introducing Same Old City Ultras - a new membership tier that gives you even more content every month in exchange for chucking a few quid our way.

What do I get?

Joining Same Old City Ultras allows you to unlock:

Two extra podcast episodes every month - these will include mailbag episodes discussing listener questions, interview episodes, retro deep dives and one-off specials.
A weekly article exclusive to Same Old City Ultras members - these will range from opinion pieces to nerdy tactical stuff, retro content and more.
The warm fuzzy feeling that you’re supporting what we do and encouraging us to do even more of it.

This membership tier will be launching in August in time for the start of the 2026/27 season, but you don’t need to wait until then to sign up - you can pledge a membership now and it will automatically kick in once the tier launches.

What sort of bunce are we looking at?

There are a couple of payment options:

£5/month if you choose a monthly subscription
£30/year (which works out at £2.50/month) if you choose an annual subscription

There’s also a ‘Founding’ tier at £69/year - we don’t expect anyone to take that option (nice though it would be) - it just doesn’t seem to be possible to remove it yet.

How do I join?

Subscribe for free first, if you haven’t already, and then the lovely red ‘Subscribe’ button should magically transform into one that says ‘Pledge your support’ - click on that button to pledge a membership. You won’t be charged until Same Old City Ultras kicks off in August, then your plan will start automatically.

Why are you creating a paywall?

We’ve always provided our content for free, and we’ll be producing more free content than ever here on sameoldcity.com in the form of weekly podcasts and now written content.

While Same Old City is a labour of love, the labour is as real as the love - planning, producing and editing the podcast is a time-consuming business, and this will only increase as we look to do more. We love doing it, but we also need a way of justifying this big time investment to our significant others… Basically, please sign up to Same Old City Ultras to save our marriages.

One option to fund Same Old City is through adverts, but we absolutely don’t want to do that. There’s nothing worse than being halfway through listening to a pod only for it to be interrupted by the same advert for VPNs that you’ve already heard dozens of times, blaring out at twice the volume of the hosts.

The alternative we’ve used until now is voluntary donations through Ko-Fi - this worked well, and we’re grateful to everyone who donated through this route. But we’d like to start giving people something back in exchange for chucking a few quid our way.
